Bile reflux occurs when digestive bile fluid flows backward from the small intestine into the stomach and esophagus. It often results from a malfunctioning valve (the pyloric sphincter) or certain surgeries. Unlike acid reflux, it is not completely manageable with diet changes and requires specific medications.
