Dermatographia disease, also known as dermographism or urticaria factitia, is a benign medical condition. Did you know that as many as 5% of people can have dermatographia disease? This skin condition causes the body to respond uniquely. When you lightly scratch or rub the skin, it rises and turns red. These lines look like someone has written on the skin. The cause is unknown, but many think it’s linked to histamine. This leads to the swelling, redness, and itchiness of dermatographia.
