Intercostal neuralgia, also known as intercostal neuritis, manifests as neuropathic pain in the affected intercostal nerve(s)’ distribution (along the ribs, chest, or belly). This pain is typically severe, aching, radiating, burning, or stabbing, and paresthesia-like tingling and numbness may accompany it.
